Summary: Hilda’s fishing trip is struck by rain and then by two new acquaintances in need of assistance.Author’s Notes: For

I needed to introduce a few additional characters to Hilda’s mainly single-panel world, so I did a mash-up with Norman Rockwell’s “Fixing a Flat.” Think of it as the Illustrationverse.Reccer's Notes: A rec posted in honor of the U.S. Full Strawberry Moon, for reasons that will be apparent in the fic.
Moon Custafer constructs a story from several Hilda panels (plus a special guest Norman Rockwell work), in which Duane Bryers’ zaftig hillbilly wood nymph comes to the aid of two travelers stranded in the boondocks—a predicament complicated by a less friendly local. (A temporary problem-solving alliance (particularly against a common enemy) can count as a relationship, right?)
Hilda as portrayed in Bryers’ artworks seems to embrace solitude, and the scant fanfic I’ve seen doesn’t tend to show her interacting face-to-face with much of anyone but her animal friends and the odd Authorial Proxy; it’s fun to watch her
socializing, and to see her given family, friends, enemies, and a history. (As well as actual clothing that she presumably wears now and then to pick up her crackers, trashy novels, and repurposable-as-clothing floursacks.)

Thursday - Birthdays
Jun. 12th, 2025 12:16 amToday's theme is birthdays. Mine’s in a few days so it got me thinking. Have your characters celebrate their birthdays, the birthdays of their loved ones. Do they arrange a birthday month celebration for themselves? Do they avoid birthdays? Are they happy or sad? What is a birthday like for an immortal character? What if they’re a clone? There are so many possibilities to explore
Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and the fandom's full name
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the above-mentioned spoiler cut.
If your story has possible triggers, please warn for them in the subject line!
Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt
Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ The Owl House, Hunter + any, picking a birthday date since he was technically ‘born’ out of a magical pit
+ Hazbin Hotel Angel Dust/Husk + any, Angel uses his birthday to finally tell his friends about his twin sister, Molly
+ Hazbin Hotel, Arackniss (any Italian name you’d like to give him) + Molly, her birthday the first year after losing her twin, Angel (Anthony)
+ Star Trek(any), any, a non-Earth celebration
We are now using AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2025 collection. See further notes on this new option here.
