He’s happy, Pat thinks as he comes down for breakfast – hair still askew, sweats fresh from the dryer for his run – Mom’s making eggs and the lingering bacon smell draws him to hover over her for a taste before it’s even flopped onto the table. The Eagles are up for the season, and Dad’s up too. Even Dr. Patel has noted a positive change.
There’ve been days when he didn’t think he’d ever see that side of the storm again, but when he looks out the window and sees the most unexpected woman he’s met crossing the street, he’s happy.
