Solitude suits him well and the quiet and vast emptiness of looking out over his city is fitting of a man of his intellect.

That isn’t to say there are no notes of loneliness in his somber sonata. One grows weary waiting for a worthy opponent to play a game – and then the game itself necessitates such solitude. He sees, he thinks, that same glimmer of desire behind Sherlock Holmes’ eyes – that same emptiness that can only be filled by someone who understands the eternal catch of being either cat or mouse. In the end, only loneliness wins, together forever.
