These are the things they’ll remember most, years later. Not the cases or even how really cool it is to be working together.
They’ll remember their first vacation together; Juliet eight month’s pregnant in the snow building a snowfamily – Snowman Gus with brown M&M eyes and licorice mouth, Snowman Shawn with perfectly sculpted hair and an old Froot Loops t-shirt, Snowwoman Jules with a little snowbaby wrapped in a green blanket she knitted herself while on maternity leave. Shawn and Gus even stop their snowball fight just to take pictures.
Later on, they’ll curl up under the covers of the rental cabin’s huge bed with Juliet in the middle, gently massaging her – touching and kissing until all three are spent and fall asleep wound together in a clutch of skin, blankets and love.
After their baby comes, the won’t tell it all about the labor scare at four in the morning and Juliet sobbing big, ugly tears when Shawn backs the SUV into their snow-family or Gus holding her hand as Shawn paces the hallways of the silent medical center until they’re told they should cut the vacation short. They’ll just break out the pictures of them red-faced and blissful.
