Saturday morning cartoons, Gus rubs his sleepy eyes as he pushes Shawn over on the chair to slide in beside him under the thick afghan that somehow manages to wrap fully around them both as he snuggles even closer just like a quarter decade before.

Phineas and Ferb replaces Thundercats, but they still cling to mugs of hot cocoa – Captain America and Iron Man respectively – wound together in a way Shawn’s dad never liked.

Only this time, when Shawn brushes good-morning kisses against his ear he knows it’s not the misguided childish affection.
